This meat market is one thing that motivated me when looking for a South America vacation, when I saw in on an episode of Anthony Bordain’s show. Mercado del Puerto, a former train station converted into an open-air market for local vendors selling everything from fresh produce to barbecue. Each one cooks the food right there and serves it up while cooking over an open flame. Fantastic eating experience.
The traditional flavors of Uruguay are heavily influenced by its European, African, and indigenous roots.
There are some great restaurants in Brazil and Uruguay that we ate in throughout the trip. But this barbecue market is the winner by far.
